Donald R. Horsley
Don Horsley is president and CEO of SouthernLINC® Wireless and Southern Telecom, both wholly owned subsidiaries of Southern Company.
SouthernLINC Wireless offers integrated wireless communications services to consumer, business and government customers, and Southern Telecom® provides long-haul and metropolitan dark fiber connecting Atlanta with other cities throughout the Southeast.
Horsley has been a part of Southern Company for 33 years. Before SouthernLINC Wireless, he served as Mississippi Power's vice president of customer services.
Horsley began his career with Alabama Power in 1978 as an engineer. He held numerous positions at Alabama Power, including vice president of transmission, division manager for the company's Birmingham Division, general manager of Human Resources, assistant to the executive vice president of customer services and transmission lines manager for Power Delivery.
A native of Birmingham, Alabama, Horsley graduated from the University of Alabama with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and a master's in business administration.
While in Alabama, Horsley was involved in a variety of community service activities, including serving as chairman of the Shelby County Economic and Industrial Development Authority, board member for the Jefferson County Schools Public Education Foundation and the UAB School of Engineering Foundation Council, March of Dimes, and the United Way of Central Alabama Allocation Committee.
Currently he serves as board chairman for the United Way of South Mississippi. He is also a member of the Mississippi State University, Bagley College of Engineering Diversity Advisory Council and the Mississippi Energy Policy Institute Board and chairs the Energy Efficiency & Smart Grid Committee. He also serves on the Power Delivery and Utilization Council of the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), serving on its Executive Committee for Energy Utilization.
