Robert G. Dawson
As president and CEO of SouthernLINC® Wireless and Southern Telecom®, both wholly owned subsidiaries of Southern Company, Bob Dawson is a leader in creating value for Southern Company stockholders. SouthernLINC Wireless offers integrated wireless communications services to consumer, business and government customers, and Southern Telecom provides long-haul and metropolitan dark fiber connecting Atlanta with other smaller cities throughout the Southeast.
Dawson has been a part of Southern Company for over 40 years. Before SouthernLINC Wireless, he served as vice president of Latin America and Caribbean assets for Southern Electric International. In this position, he was responsible for directing the operations of multiple power generation facilities in the Bahamas, Trinidad, Argentina and northern Chile. Dawson and his family resided in Buenos Aires for nearly two years during his tenure with Southern Electric.
From 1992 to 1994, Dawson was the vice president of power generation and delivery for Mississippi Power, responsible for ensuring the most efficient and reliable electric energy to the consumer. He also served as vice president of fuel services for Southern Company where he was responsible for the procurement of all the fossil fuels required by the Southern Company system. Dawson worked in a variety of other positions within Southern Company, including bulk power marketing and the rate department.
Dawson began his career with Southern Company Services in the system planning department in 1964 as a co-operative education student while attending the Georgia Institute of Technology. He earned a bachelor's degree from Georgia Tech and an MBA from Georgia State University. Dawson is a registered professional engineer in Alabama, Florida, Georgia and Mississippi.
Dawson is a member of the Board of Directors for the Enterprise Wireless Alliance and CTIA and Rural Cellular Association.
